Abstract (EN)

Water has always been a survival element in the emergence and collapse of all civilizations, affecting all the developments. As this survival material is gradually diminishing, water has currently become a political issue. Because water is regarded as a scarce resource, it seems to take the place of oil, which has been in the hot agenda since the beginning of 20th century. In the world, a great number of people are struggling to survive without healthy water; thus, drought is seen as a factor causing deaths. Accordingly, the aim of this study is to demonstrate the conditions regarding water in Turkey and to evaluate Turkey's stance towards water management. Within this scope, the study is concluded by benefiting from primary sources and open-access press sources and using the descriptive narrative technique. This study consists of three chapters. In the first chapter, the conceptual framework of water and water problem is discussed. In the second chapter, the current condition of water in the world and particularly in Turkey is evaluated. In this chapter, international researches regarding water issue are also discussed. In the last chapter, water policy of Turkey is investigated.
