Abstract (EN)
As the world develops and becomes more globalized, many products, especially food, can be easily exported or imported. However, as factors that affect the global economy, such as pandemics or regional wars, have emerged, food trade has become uneasy. Countries with higher agricultural consumption than production have slowly started to put self-sufficiency in agriculture on the table. Especially European countries have started to review and work on agricultural self-sufficiency and food sustainability. For example, due to the Russia-Ukraine war in recent years, serious problems have emerged in the sunflower oil and wheat trade, resulting in increased prices, reduced stocks and problems in accessing the product by consumers. In our country, since we cannot produce enough agricultural products in response to the increasing population in general, we have to import our food products from the foreign market and agricultural products have become one of the important factors in the foreign trade deficit. In order not to be seriously affected by food shortages in any possible pandemic period, war or natural disasters in the future, improvement in agricultural policies, food security and research on self-sufficiency in agricultural activities should be carried out. Our main purpose in this master's thesis is to determine the state of self-sufficiency in agriculture in Turkey and to suggest the necessary improvement studies, to conduct studies to predict the state of self-sufficiency in agriculture in our country ixort he coming years and to offer the necessary suggestions as a result.
