The relationship between agricultural research development extension policies and agricultural growth in Turkey

Abstract (EN)

In this study, it is aimed to clarify relationship between agricultural research and extension policies with agricultural growth. In the first phase, agricultural research development and extension policy implementations in the World and Turkey and organizational structures and provided supports in terms of Turkey's status was exposed. In the second phase of the study, relationship between agricultural research policies and agricultural growth was tried to evaluate.Average annual technical efficiency is around 0,14%, technological change is around 0,38% increased in Turkish agriculture in 1990 ? 2010 period. As a result average annual total factor productivity increased 0,51% in whole period. Technological change was found the major determinant of total factor productivity. As a result, it is exhibited that form of productivity shows 5-years lag in transferred resources after the investment decision. Long-term relationship between agricultural R&D expenditures and agricultural growth was determined through Johansen cointegration test.Between total factor productivity that is used as an indicator of countries growth efforts evaluation and agricultural R&D expenditures, a one-way causal relationship has been found R&D expenditures towards agricultural growth.
