Abstract (EN)

The relations between Turkish and Indo-Urdu languages are not limited to the recent period. There is a long-standing relationship between these languages. As Mahatma Gandhi said, "India is a mother and she has two children. One of them are Turks and the other are Indians" (TDA, 2018). The social, cultural and historical ties between these countries are not limited to the past. The importance of Turkish language in the Indian subcontinent stems from the past Turkish domination and social interactions, as well as the abundance of word similarities, especially in Hindi and Urdu. As a result of the fusion of the indian soldiers with the Turkish army came with Mahmud Gazne (962-1183) for the purpose of conquest of India, Turkish language got mixed with the local languages. This was one of the reason that many words were transferred from Turkish to Hindi-Urdu. In the following centuries, the Urdu language, considered one of the Aryan languages, continued to exist as Hindi, Hindavi and Dehlevi.
