Abstract (EN)

Language has many functions, especially communication. It is a set of interconnected layers, including sound, words, suffixes, phrases, sentences, and meaning. One of these planes is the morphological plane where morphemes are found. One distinctive morphological feature of Turkish is agglutinative. Derivational morphemes (suffixes) are added to word bases (roots or stems) according to certain rules to create new words. There are different ways to derive new words in Turkish. The most basic and widespread method is forming new words with derivational suffixes. Many new words can be formed from noun or verb stems by combining different derivational suffix ordering patterns. As a result of these derivations, "cognate word families" are formed from a common root. Thus, different derivational suffix ordering patterns make up this set of words. This study performed a morphemic analysis of 6, 775 derived verbs identified by scanning the Turkish Dictionary. The construction suffix arrangement in these verbs were determined and classified. It was found that the identified derived verbs had 40 different derivational suffix ordering patterns. Thus, the sequence forms of the derivational suffixes that form derived verbs in Turkish were cataloged.
