Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted to investigate the genetic diversity of 47 Morus nigra genotypes from Iraq and Türkiye using Simple Sequence Repeat (SSR) markers and IPBS markers. In the research was focused on comparing populations of Morus nigra from Iraq and Türkiye to gain insights into the genetic variations and relationships within and between these regions. The main objective was to assess the genetic diversity within and between populations of Morus nigra using SSR and IPBS marker systems. A total of 47 Morus nigra samples from Iraq and Türkiye were analyzed using ten SSR markers, revealing a range of polymorphism with a PIC (Polymorphic Information Content) value ranging from 0.51 to 0.68. The number of alleles was 27 and the mean polymorphism rate of alleles was 75%. The IPBS analysis resulted in a PIC value ranging from 0.26 to 0.50, a total number of bands were 138, of which 108 bands were polymorphic. The percentage of polymorphic bands was 74%. The resulting data were subjected to various statistical analyses, including genetic diversity indices and Principal Coordinate Analysis (PCoA). Results show that Morus nigra genotypes have lower variation in SSR loci. But IPBS marker systems have quite high variations, indicating powerful usage of retrotransposons.
