Determination of responses to drought stress of certain forage pea (Pisum sativum spp. arvense L.) cultivars grown in Turkey

Abstract (EN)

This study was investigated to determine the effects of drought on growth and development of forage pea cultivars. The study were carried out at the Akdeniz University, Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Field Crops. In this study, 6 pea varieties named Töre, Taşkent, Kozmaj, Assas Gölyazı and farmer cultivar were used as plant materials. In this study three different irrigation levels, 90-100%, 50-55% and 3035% % of the field capacity, and of the were examined. There search was carried out in there search and trial greenhouses of the Agricultural Faculty of Akdeniz University. In the study, 6 varieties of local pea, Töre, Tashkent, Kozmaj, Assas and Gölyazı were used as plant material. Experiments were established in greenhouse conditions in 5-liter pots with 4 replications according to complete randomized block design. At the end of the eight-week trial period, 5 sample plants were taken from each pots, and data on plant fresh and dry weight, root fresh and dry weight, plant height, number of main branches and number of nodes per plant, leaflet width-length and internode lengths were investigated. At the end of the study, significant decreases were observed in the investigated properties due to the decreasing amount of water. It has been determined that Gölyazı variety has better values than other varieties in plant fresh and dry weights. According to these results, it is anticipated that Gölyazı variety could be a better choice especially in regions with insufficient rainfall during growing periods.
