Abstract (EN)

Environment problems basically occur with rapid population increase, unplanned industrialization and irregular urbanization. These problems, which arise in a particular region, are becoming a global issue over time. Because environment is the main factor that provides natural resources for the economy and environmental problems increase day by day, an economic policy that does not take into account the environment at the present time is described as unsustainable. Developed countries that are aware of this fact have adopted an approach that considers environmental concerns in their economic activities. While considerable base of environmental pressure is reflected in the policies of developed countries, both economic priorities and sufficient consciousness have not occurred in developing countries has led to environmental policies being insufficient to prevent environmental pollution. The aim of this thesis analyze of relations between environment problems and economic growth of Turkey, a developing country. The time series analysis is applied to examine between environment pollution and economic growth from 1980 to 2014. The findings of this study show us that there is a positive directional relation between two variables. As a result, this study shows us that environment problems increasing with the economic growth in Turkey. These findings reveal important of environment policies in the process of economic growth of Turkey. Keywords: Environmental problems, Economic Growth, Time Series Analysis
