In this thesis (study), the correlations were examined between drugs related crimes andsocio-economic factors in Turkey.The data used in the Project were analysed and classified based on 2002-2006 figures ofDirectorate of Drugs, Smuggling and Organized Crime (DDSOC), Turkish National Police(TNP) and the Organization of Turkish Statistical Instute(TÜ?K). Dependent variables arepercentage of drug user per 1000 person, heroin, cocaine, hashish, synthetic substance, ratioof total sentenced hashish users to total province population, ratio of total sentenced syntheticsubstance users to total province poulation, ratio of total sentenced drug dealers to totalProvince population. Independent variables are population Density, gross national productionper person, rate of university graduates, employment rate in total population. Independentcontrol variables are urbanization, ratio of employer in employment rate, rate of carownership, rate of employers, average size of household, ratio of literacy rate in population,free of charge health beneficiary rates (ye?il kart sahibi), ratio of police personel of DDSOCin total province population.After conducted analyses, statistically meaningful correlations were observed betweensocio-demographic factors and drug related crimes. Yapılan analizler neticesinde sosyoekonomikfaktörlerle uyu?turucu suçları arasında doğrudan bir ili?ki söz konusu olduğugörülmektedir.While umemployment rate, population density, and migration among demographicfactors are increased, then drug related crimes are risen up. On the contrary, whenemployment, urbanization, gross national production per person, schooling, social controlmechanisms are increased, then drug related crimes are declined.The findings were obtained from this research study were explained and supported inthe light of crime theories such as sociol control, social learning and sub-culture.Key Words: Drug related crimes, Crime theories( social control, sub-culture and sociallearning), population, unemployment, urbanization.
