Abstract (EN)
Idioms are formulaic phrases that stray away from dictionary meaning to signify a different situation or concept. They are an indispensable part of language that is used in virtually every form of written or oral communication. Classification of idioms has been one of the most debated topics among linguistic researchers for years. Although many studies have been made to accomplish this goal, no common ground has been found yet. Because language is alive and subject to change every moment, core material and research methods vary from study to study. In this work, idioms in Turkmen Turkish are classified in terms of their topics of interest.
