Energy use efficiency and carbon footprint analysis in citrus production

Abstract (EN)

In this study, it was aimed to determine energy use, energy input-output analysis and carbon footprint analysis by taking into account the chemical inputs directly used for the unit production area (ha) in the production of lemon, tangerine and orange in different villages in Yüreğir district of Adana province.Reserarch data was obtained by face-to-face survey method from producers producing 58 Lemons, 62 Oranges and 60 Tangerines. All production processes, such as tractor-equipment information, fuel consumption, laborcosts, etc., were examined in detail. In the reserch, the total energy consumption in Lemon, Orange and Tangerine production was calculated as an average of 39266,5 MJ/ha, 34784 MJ/ha and 37734,5 MJ/ha respectively.It was determined that the highest Carbon Emission value in Lemon occurred in the fertilization process with a value of 41533,7 kgCO2/ha, in Orange the highest Carbon Emission value occurred in the fertilization process with a value of 40367,5 kgCO2/ha, and in Tangerine with a value of 38107,5 kgCO2/ha, in the fertilization process.
