Effect of applied behavior analysis method on stereotypic behavior in children with autism between 3 and 6 years old

In this research, it is aimed to research effect of applied behavior analysis method on stereotypic behavior in children with autism between three-six ages. In the research, Gilliam Autism Rating Scale (GOBDÖ-2-TV) was used, and 8-participant experiment and 8-participant control group were formed from children aging between 3 and 6 taking private education from rehabilitation institutes of National Education Ministry in Istanbul. Afterwards, stereotypic behavior scale results of children in control group and in experiment group applied weekly 26 hours applied behavior analysis for 12 weeks. According to results of the study, there were not statistically significant difference between stereotypic behavior, communication and social interaction levels of groups before application (p>0,05); on the other hand, there were statistically significant differences for stereotypic behaviors and Autism Rating Index (ARI) between groups (p<0,05), whereas there were statistically insignificant differences for communication levels of children after application. According to results of the study there were not statistically significant difference for three factors and ARI values of control group (p>0,05). Results of the study shows that applies behavior analysis has positive effects on stereotypic behaviors of 3-6 aged autistic children.
