Abstract (EN)

Objective: The aim of the thesis is to monitor the life cycles of drought-adapted 3 species of the Pottiaceae family (Aloina ambigua, Streblotrichum convolutum, and Microbryum starckeanum), and contribute to the elucidation of the biology of these species. Material and Method: In this study, the existing populations of three Pottiaceae species distributed in the campus area of Aydın Adnan Menderes University were used as materials of the study. Observations of the populations were realized regularly, and their developmental status was evaluated and recorded under the microscope on representative parts (sampling) taken from the populations in each examination period. Results: In our study, data on each phase of the life cycles of three Pottiaceae species were collected and the course of their life cycles was shown in accordance with these data. Conclusion: Although it was observed that the examined species started to germinate with the first permanent precipitation in accordance with the Mediterranean climate conditions and completed the cycle before the summer droughts began, the cycle of Aloina ambigua and Streblotrichum convolutum was completed between November - May (early summer) but in Microbryum starckeanum this process is completed between early winter and end of spring period. Key Words: Aloina ambigua, Streblotrichum convolutum, Microbryum starckeanum, life cycles, bryophytes.
