Abstract (EN)
Radio frequency identification (RFID) is now common practice in the world of transportation and logistics. It has become frequently used for machine and process optimization for less downtime, lower inventory costs and maximum profitability, especially in production and logistics lines. It seamlessly automates tasks such as identifying, finding, and authenticating inventory. It has started to be used frequently in many automation-related applications such as tracking vehicles and equipment, improving electronic toll collection. Widespread adoption of this technology has resulted in significant improvements in operational efficiency beyond those using barcodes. In the aviation industry, the first use of RFID technology was to track and locate luggage, cargo and containers. In the aviation industry, RFID was first used in aircraft fleets in other onboard emergency equipment such as life jackets, oxygen cylinders, fire extinguishers, extended seat belts, earplugs, flashlights, survival kits, and oxygen generators. Recently, the need for accurate tracking of aircraft parts and protection of relevant operational information has opened up new applications for RFID, and two leading names in aviation, Airbus and Boeing, have started to use tags from their parts production and major manufacturers in aviation. They began working together to develop common industry standard solutions for RFID. In our study, warehouse area, work flow models, standard procedures and official protocols to be complied with have been drawn up for an aircraft technical maintenance and repair company based in Turkey to manage their maintenance processes using RFID.
