Stand structures in Forest Sub-District Directorate of Ucpınar (Ilgaz-Ankara)

It is the basic principle to manage the forest areas in the best way and to comply with the principle of continuity, and at the same time not to disturb the ecological balance so as to benefit from the products that will come out of the forest areas. Turkey has a rich geography in terms of tree species and is home ownership to different habitats. It has forests with different stand structures properties in which different tree species together beside pure forests. Tree species which attend to the stand is important in terms of having economic value for benefit from the stands where more than one tree community is located. For this reason, so as to shed light on today's forestry activities and to realize the continuity of mixed stands, stand structures and their silvicultural characteristics in Ucpınar forest sub-district directorate were tried to be determined by using plant sociology methods. Within the scope of the study, 13 stand structures were determined and these stands present changes in terms of silvicultural characteristics. Scots pine is the most commonly found species to the mixed stands. Scots pine specie was followed by Anatolian Black Pine, Kazdagı Fir and Trembling poplar, respectively. Determined of the 13 stand structures, 10 stand showed parallelism with the forest management plan. The widest pole is in pure black pine, at least in trembling poplar- Scots pine stand. Scots pine existed in the overstory of the stand. This is followed Black pine and Fir tree species.
