Presentation of terror news in international news channels: A study on CNN, Aljazeera English and France 24 English

Nowadays, the most important goal of terrorist activities is to spread their thoghts and attract public attantion. Thanks to the media terrorsim attains its goals without paying even single piaster. What is interesting, however, is that the media should not only inform the public of any acts of terrorism, but also serve the purpose of the terrorists. This is the essence of the media-terror relationship. In this study, it was tried to determine the role of international news channels in the reproduction of ideological concepts in the presentation of terror news. In this context, CNN, Al-Jazeera English and France 24 English channels; January 7, 2015 terror attack on Charlie Hebdo office in Paris, November 13, 2015 attacks on Paris stadium, Bataclan concert hall and many other places in the city, 22 March 2016 terror attacks on Brussels's airport and the subway station, June 28, 2016 terror attack in Istanbul's Atatürk Airport and the terrorist attack on July 14, 2016 in Nice, the published news about all these events was examined. İn question news was analyzed by Teun van Dijk's critical discourse analysis. The findings of the study show that despite their different ideological position, television channels are generally similar in discourses.
