Political biases in international news: The case of CNN, Russia Today and TRT World

The main subject of this research is the new developments in global information flow, which is used to explain by what players the all unlimited amount and non-stop information traffic in the world is carried out. To be able to demonstrate this in a practice, CNN International was chosen to represent the former dominants of the global information flow, and Russia Today and TRT World as new players, and the coverage of international event in these broadcasters was examined in a comparative way. For this purpose, the political crisis what emerged as a result of the United States' move of the Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem on May 14, 2018 was selected and as research methods it's been preferred the quantitative and qualitative content analysis. According to results of the research, it was determined that CNN International provided pro-Israel broadcasting, while Russia Today's and TRT World's news coverage was more likely pro-Palestine. After research material was analysed through quantitative and qualitative methodologies, it was possible to do interpretation of findings and to map the representation of İsrael-Palestine crisis for every aforementioned news websites. Accordingly, it can be asserted that while CNN International was trying to soften the image of violence used by Israel against Palestinians, TRT World conveyed the pain and sorrow of the Palestinians and Russia Today put to the question the responsibility of some Western countries for this human crisis.
