The problem of transboundary waters in International Law: The Mekong river and the Euphrates - Tigris river examples

Water is one of the most important elements for the continuation of the ecosystem and the world population. The rapid increase in the world population, the developments in industry and technology, and the drought caused by global warming have made water an important subject of national interests of countries. Water resources from more than one country or border crossing between countries is the problem of transboundary waters. Two of the problematic regions in the world are Middle East and South East Asia. The Euphrates and Tigris Rivers in the Middle East region and the Mekong River in Southeast Asia are examples of the problem of waters. In this study; The Euphrates and Tigris Rivers and Mekong River are compared with the approaches of the countries of the world and international law doctrines.
