The representation of İsrael's 2014 attack on Gaza in the international media: CNN and Al-Jazeera samples

This master thesis aimed to analyze the conflict between Israel and Gaza in 2014. With this understanding, this thesis has been seperated into five chapters in addition to introduction and conclusion.In the first chapter, information on international communication, culture and media imperialism was given. MacBride report which indicated inbalances in international communication was also emphasized. Second chapter constituted the theoretical foundation of the thesis.In this context, the notion of Orientalism was expressed and its relation with "other" was emphasized. Additionally, representation of Islam in media was stressed. Third chapter aimed to put forth CNN and Al Jazeera television channel's approachs to international developments while giving general information on these channels. Last chapter aims to give information on the historical bacground of Israel-Palestine conflict and intend to unfold news of these two channels to conflict between Israel and Gaza in the context of critical discourse analysis.
