Abstract (EN)
International Exhibitions, Which were heirs of the national exhibitions of industrial product that appeared in the late 18th century Europe, had been significant organization in terms of the representations of the states in an international medium between the mid-19th century and the 1920's and by being transformed in time, these exhibitions have continued until today. During the era of globalization, exhibitions have played a significant role within the economic, intellectual, cultural and artistic interactions between different states and continents. The objective of this studyis to interpret the architectural representation methods and implementation processes of the states during the international exhibitions within the scope of rivalry between the Ottoman Empire end Egypt. Although Egypt was subject to the Ottoman Empire, since the beginning of the exhibitions there had been an independent and powerful Egyptian participation standing strongly against that of Ottoman and this participation was supported by Western states due to contextual reasons. In this respect, Egypt played an important role during the devolopment of the Ottoman exhibition standards and the contuniation of Ottoman participation to the International exhibitions. This study undertakes chronological and comparative analysis of the Ottoman and Egyptian participation processes to the international exhibitions in terms of the architectural representations of the states, their representations and actors taking place in the design and implementation stages and interprets the role of the Ottoman - Egyptian rivalry during the international exhibitions continuing during the selected period.
