Freight villages in international trade: The case of Turkey

Abstract (EN)

The converging world economies have brought the result together with increased of inter-country relations, increased of production, consumption and international trade. Therefore, the logistics activities which are in case of interaction with international trade have developed; freight villages which are in the center of trade have began to be established in the world and thus in Europe and Turkey. Turkey which is case of advantageous as geographical position; it serves as a bridge between Europe, Middle East and Turkic Republics, it aims to be the logistics base of three continents. Turkey which aims to reach the export volume 500 billion $ in 2023, it emerges with 21 freight village project that will be instrumental to speed up this its target. In this study within Freight Villages in International Trade, some freight villages that their project was prepared in Turkey were examined, the current situation has been evaluated on the situation that should be. In this study, the concept of logistics is examined in detail, some freight villages in Europe have been examined. In addition, the importance of freight villages in international trade has been put forward, it is explained that freight villages are a kind of trade network, both regional, national and international impacts of freight villages are emphasized. Thus, it was concluded of the freight villages will play an important role in increasing Turkey's foreign trade.
