Abstract (EN)
Transnationalism refers to the cultural interaction and cultural exchange triggered by globalization. Within this process, the traditional structure of cinema as a cultural field of practice was deeply changed and transformed. The foundations of the national cinema paradigm were eroded, failing to explain the emerging changes in the field of cinema. This situation mandates a new, transnational perspective towards cinema. The purpose of this study is to establish how local productions may not always be categorized under "national cinema", and in fact must be placed under a "transnational" context beyond the national framework due to certain characteristics embodied by these productions. Various parameters were determined to establish the transnational characteristics of productions supported by Eurimages. The sample of the study was determined through these parameters, with data gathered from the films analyzed through qualitative research methods. The findings of the study were interpreted in accordance with the literature of the field. The conclusions drawn indicate that the production, distribution and screening practices of the films studied carry qualities of transnationality. Additionally, the various cultural elements portrayed in the productions endow the films with multicultural and hybrid identities. These characteristics of the films lead to the conclusion that they may be considered under a category of transnational cinema rather than national cinema.
