Abstract (EN)

In this study, the observations selected from the heritages in the UNESCO World Heritage List were examined and suggestions were developed for the cultural and mixed heritages in the UNESCO Tentative List of Türkiye. The List and the tentative list observations are divided into seven heritage classes, following the heritage classification instructions in the Operational Guidelines for the Implementation of the World Heritage Convention. Heritage definitions for a total of 314 observations and world heritage site definitions for 233 List observations were examined and ninety categories were determined under seven variables that define heritage characteristics. Categorical data for each heritage class were processed by Multiple Correspondence Analysis, Principal Component Analysis and Hierarchical Clustering on Principal Components Approach, respectively. The Monument class was evaluated as an example based on the obtained dendrograms. As a result of this study, it has been determined that the heritage classification instructions in the Operational Guidelines are insufficient to make a clear class distinction, the class observation distribution in the list and the tentative list differs, and it is necessary to pay attention to the "Conservation and Management", "Justification for the List" and "Monitoring" sections of the nomination dossier.
