Abstract (EN)

This research was conducted to examine the effect of post-traumatic stress disorder levels on despair in college students. The aim of the study is to identify the relationship between post-traumatic stress and hopelessness levels of college students. For this purpose, a sample of 340 university students aged 18-24, 25-35 and 36+ living in the Istanbul region was formed. Relational Survey Model were used in the study. "Personal Information Form", "Beck despair scale" and "Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder question list" were used in the research. Statistical analyses were performed in IBM SPSS statistics 20.0 program. "Independent sample t" and "ANOVA(one-way analysis of variance)" tests were used in the analysis of demographic differences on the scales. In the study, the relationship between the level of despair and the level of post-traumatic stress disorder was calculated using the Pearson correlation technique. As a result of the assessments, it was found that gender, age, level of education and place of life did not affect, as well as a significant relationship between post-traumatic stress and despair. Research results were discussed and suggestions were made to guide new research accompanied by previous literature.
