Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between conspicuous consumption tendency, moral integrity, self-concept and identity in university students and to determine the relationship between them. The sample of the study consists of university students studying in Kayseri. The data of a total of 451 people, 281 of whom were female and 170 of whom were male, were included in the study. In the study, the Pretentious Consumption Tendency Scale adapted into Turkish by M. Aslan, the Moral Integrity Scale adapted into Turkish by Okan and Ekşi, the Self Concept and Identity Scale adapted into Turkish by İnan and Yalçınkaya, and a socio-demographic information form were used. The survey questions were created on Google Forms and sent to the students. The research data were statistically analyzed with IBM SPSS 29.00. Independent sample T-Test was used to determine whether the average scores of university students from the Scales of Pretentious Consumption Tendency, Moral Integrity, Self-Concept and Identity differed significantly according to their demographic characteristics and places of residence. ANOVA, one of the parametric analyses, was applied to determine the difference between more than two independent variables and which variables differed. Correlation analysis was performed to determine the relationship between dependent and independent variables. According to the research findings, it was determined that there is a significant positive relationship between Conspicuous Consumption Tendency and Self-Concept and Identity. There is a significant negative relationship between Conspicuous Consumption Tendency and Moral Integrity. There is a significant negative relationship between Moral Integrity and Self-Concept and Identity. A significant differentiation was found between Conspicuous Consumption and faculty, spending status, father's education level and duration of social media use. A significant difference was found between Moral Integrity and age, faculty, spending status, place of residence and duration of social media use. A significant relationship was found between Self-Concept and Identity and age, spending status and duration of social media use.
