Özet (EN)

Aim of this study is to find out whether the color vision ability is affected by eye dominance or not which is informed to come to the fore in functions related with vision and to examine the relation of it with visual depth perception. 19 females (38 %) and 31 males (62 %) in all 50 university students who have total visual acuity and do not kongenital impairment of color vision and whose ages are varying between 19-29 and whose mean ± SD is 21,18 ± 2,52 are taken to this study. In this study, color discrimination is observed by Farnsworth Munsell 100 Hue Test (FM100HT). This test is applied to all of the individuals for 3 times in order by opening both eyes, right eye and left eye. Dominant eye of each individual is determined by the Gündoğan Method. Individuals are seperated into two groups according to their determined dominant eyes and then their error scores are examined. Color discrimination between the dominant and non-dominant eye is examined by evaluating total error scores, red-green (r/g) and blue-yellow (b/y) local error scores. In order to confirm that individuals use both of their eyes in visüel function and to examine their depth perception sensitivity, TNO Test is used. In statistical evaluations, significance level is accepted as p<0,05. Though in both gender, eye dominance is found higher in the left eye, statistically significant difference is not found among them. When the error scores of FM100HT are evaluated, total error scores of dominant eye are determined as 58,80±29,92, r/g local error scores are determined as 24,12±14,70 and b/y local error scores are determined as 34,68±18,95. Total error scores of non-dominant eye are determined as 68,44±31,46, r/g error scores are determined as 32,20±19,21, and b/y error scores are determined 36,24±17,56. Between the dominant and nondominant eye, statistically significant difference is found in respect to total error scores and r/g error scores (p< 0,05). Between color discrimination and depth perception, no relation is established (p=1). In this study, color perception ability of the dominant eye is observed superior. It is stated that, the reason of this superiority is the high level of sensibility in r/g color area. It is stated that, no depth perception and color vision ability relation is found. Key Words: Color discrimination, Farnsworth Munsell 100 Hue Test, dominant eye, The Gündoğan Method, depth perception.
