Investigating the relationship between irrational beliefs and happiness on the romantic relations of university students

The aim of this is to study the relationship between irrational romantic relationship beliefs, gender, class level, romantic relationship experince and faculty that students study in. One of the other aims of the research is to study the relationship between the happiness, gender, class level and romantic relationship experince. The other one research is to study if university students assess happiness with the irrational romantic relationship beliefs. The universe of this research is consist of university students. Workshop group includes students at 1st and 4th class in faculties of Education, Literature, Law, Engineering, Nurse Education Faculty and Fine Arts. The research was practiced among 466 university students, of whom 283 are females, of whom 183 are males, in 2017-2018 Educational Fall Term. In this research these samples were carried out: Irrational Romantic Relationships Beliefs Inventory, The Oxford Happiness Questionnaire Short Form and Individual Information Form. To investigate the research T test, Kruskal Wallis and Regression Analysis were utilized. The results showed that dealing with the gender diffrences in irrational romantic relationship beliefs, female students get higher points in extreme expectations , physical closeness and mind reading but lower points in using social time sub-dimension than male students. Dealing with thinking differently sub-dimenson the students 4th class get higher points than the students from 1st class students. According to their romantic relationshiop experiences, students who didn't experince a romantic relationship get higher points in physical clossness and thinking differently sub-dimensions. The students from Nurse Education Faculty get higher points in using social time sub-dimenson on the other hand students from Education Faculty get higher points in physical closeness sub-dimension. According to the results of happiness- gender relationship males are happier than females. There is no meaningful relationship between class level and romantic relationship experience. In this research it is showed that irrational romantic relationship beliefs meaningfully determine the individual's happiness level.
