Studying the relationship between cyberbullying and psychological well-being among college students

Abstract (EN)
The aim of this research was to study the relationship between cyberbullying and psychological well-being among college students. The research group consisted of 506 students, 350 of which were female and 156 were male students, who were studying in Erzincan Binali Yıldırım University Faculty of Education during 2017-2018 academic years. "Cyber Victimization and Bullying Scale", "Psychological Well-being Scale" and "Personal Information Form" were used to obtain the data. The data obtained from the study were analyzed by using Simple Linear Regression Analysis, Mann-Whitney U Test, Independent Samples t-Test, Kruskal-Wallis H Test and One-Way ANOVA Test. The results of this study showed that cyberbullying scores differed significantly in terms of gender, being separated from the family before university, daily internet usage time, perceived parental attitude, and did not differ significantly in terms of the frequency of social media usage, perceived socio-economic status, birth order, the location where the majority of life is passed. Furthermore, psychological well-being scores differed significantly in terms of gender, the situation of getting psychological help from an expert, birth order, perceived parental attitudes and did not differ significantly in terms of being separated from the family before university, daily internet usage time, the frequency of social media usage, perceived socio-economic status, the location where the majority of life is passed. In addition, a negative correlation was found between cyber bullying and psychological well-being. Finally, it was determined that about 8% of psychological well-being is explained by cyber bullying among college students.
