The analysis on the anxiety of the social appearance at the university students and the attachment styles in terms of multiple variables

In this study, social appearance anxiety and attachment styles in university students were examined in terms of various variables. In addition, the relationship between social appearance anxiety and attachment styles was examined in the study. The study group of the research consists of volunteer students studying at Erzincan Binali Yıldırım University Faculty of Education in the 2020-2021 academic year. A total of 454 students, 329 women and 125 men, participated in the study voluntarily. Social Appearance Anxiety Scale, Three Dimensional Attachment Styles Scale and personal information form prepared by the researcher were applied to the participants. Independent Groups t Test, One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), Pearson Product Moment Correlation and Multiple Regression Analysis were used in the analysis obtained from the study.According to the results obtained from the study, it was determined that social appearance anxiety has a positive relationship with anxious-unstable attachment style and avoidant attachment style, and a negative relationship with secure attachment style. It was found that secure attachment style and anxious-unstable attachment style, which are sub-dimensions of three-dimensional attachment style, had a predictive effect on social appearance anxiety. In addition, according to the sub-dimensions of social appearance anxiety and three-dimensional attachment styles, the level of self-confidence, the status of volunteering in the distance education process, the family income level, academic success, the place where mostly lived until starting university, parent attitude, number of siblings, physical appearance evaluation and friendship It has been determined that it differs according to the status of defining the relationships. The research results were discussed in the light of the literature and suggestions were made.
