Rumination and perfectionism as predictors of meaning in life among university students

Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationships between university students' meaning in life and rumination and perfectionism and in addition to this, the aim of this study is to examine whether meaning in life differ significantly according to gender, grade level and age. The study group of the research consists of 254 university students who continue their education in various universities and departments in Turkey in the 2022-2023 academic year. The data were obtained through the Personal Information Form, Meaning in Life Questionnaire, Brief State Rumination Inventory, Frost Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale. Multiple regression analysis was used to determine whether university students' meaning in life was predicted by the rumination and perfectionism. Whether the meaning in life differs significantly according to gender, age was analyzed with the t-test for unrelated samples. A one-way analysis of variance was used to determine whether meaning in life help differs significantly based on the grade level. As a result of the research, it was found that rumination and perfectionism were positive and significant predictors of meaning in life among university students.
