The analysiz of the relationship between the attachment styles and the childhood trauma of university students

This study is designed to investigate The analysiz of the realitionship between the attachment styles and childhood trauma of university students. Also, attachment style and level of childhood traumas were investigated according to some variables.The study was carried out on a sample of 181 preparatory student from different faculties in Boğaziçi University. Participants were administred three self-report questionnaires in order to ases attachment style (Adulthood Expeirence Inventory), childhood traumas? (Childhood Trauma Experiences Scale) and depression level (Beck Depression Scale). Additionally, the personal and socio-demographic information about student and their families was collected by ? Personal Information Form? which was developed by the researcher.Correlation and Multiple Regression analysis , t tests for independent groups, One-Way Variance analysis (ANOVA) were conducted to analyze the data.The results revealed there is significant relationship between childhood traumas and depression level. Also, it was found that attachment style is related to level of physchical abuse significantly. Finally , there is a significant relationship frightening attachment style and childhood traumas.In this study it was found that attachment style is varianced according to gender , mother?s education level, number of sibling , duration of lactation. Chilhood trauma is varianced according to detachment from parents, child rearing styles , number of sibling, . duration of lactation Finally it was found that level of depression of students is varianced according to, parents attitude, duration of detachment from parent and duration of lactation.Key Words: Attachment Styles, Depression, Trauma, Child Abuse
