Abstract (EN)

The main aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between self esteem, expectations of work and education and university life satisfaction by using the cohort analysis method. The sample of the study is composed of students from the Department of Labor Economics and Industrial Relations at Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences. A total of 775 students participated in the study. According to the t-test and ANOVA results; the students' gender, scholarship, learning credits, employment status and number of siblings did not create a difference in the scale scores applied. The students in the 2013-2014 academic year have a lower self-esteem and participation in university activities scale scores than the students in the 2014-2015 academic year. The students in the 2013-2014 academic year have a higher expectations of work and education and university life satisfactions scale scores than the students in the 2014-2015 academic year. In the 2013-2014 academic year, the students who are in the preparatory education have higher self-esteem, while the students who do not receive the preparatory education in the 2015-2016 academic year have higher self-esteem. Second year students in the 2013-2014 academic year are less satisfied with college life than other classes. In the 2015-2016 academic year, first-year students' expectations of work and education are lower than those of other classes, and their participation in university activities is higher. In the 2015-2016 academic year, students who lives in dormitories are more likely to participate in university activities than the other students. According to the results of correlation studies, there was a low positive correlation between self-esteem and university life satisfaction, a moderately positive correlation between self-esteem and expectations of work and education, a low positive correlation between university life satisfaction and participation in university activities, a moderately positive correlation between university life satisfaction and expectations of work and education, a low positive correlation between participation in university activities and expectations of work and education in the academic year 2013-2014. There was a low positive correlation between self-esteem and expectations of work and education, a low negative correlation between participation in university activities and expectations of work and education in the academic year 2015-2016.
