Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted to investigate the levels of Internet Addiction and Physical Activity Participation of University Students. 159 volunteer students participated in the study. International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) short form and Young Internet Addiction Scale were applied to the students included in the study. In the analysis of the data, firstly the distribution of normality was examined and it was observed that the data did not show normal distribution (Kolmogorov-Smirnova, p> 0.05). Since the data did not show normal distribution, for 2 independent variables from non-parametric tests; Mann Whitney u test, for more than 2 independent variables; Kruskal-Wallis test was applied. Spearman correlation test was used to examine the relationship between internet addiction and physical activity level. Significance level was taken as p <0.05. In our study, according to the results of correlation analysis of spearman rank differences between physical activity scoring and independent variables, a significant positive relationship was found between gender and physical activity (r: 169, p <0.05). The results of correlation analysis of spearman rankings correlation between internet addiction scoring and independent variables were found to be positively correlated with variable (r: .160, p <0.05) and income (r: -.88, p <0.05) and physical activity. As a result, it was understood that although physical activity was moderate and internet addiction scores were low in university students, physical inactivity in terms of preventive measures should be determined, protective approaches towards university students should be planned and necessary changes should be planned.
