The relationship between humor styles and psychological symptoms and death anxiety of college students.

Abstract (EN)

The main purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the styles of humor and death anxiety psychological symptoms college students. Personal İnformation Form, Humor Styles Questionnaire, Death Anxiety Scale, Symptom Check List (SCL-90) were administered to 503 (271 female, 232 male) college students. For data analysis, Pearson Correlation Coefficient, T-test, One Way Anova, Scheffe-Tests were referred. The main investigation field includes the male and female students that study at Kocaeli and Sakarya university students. The example of the investigation includes 503 students from the Kocaeli and Sakarya university students the ages between 17 to 28 and %46 male and %53.9 female students. The result shows there isn?t any relationship between the styles of humor and death anxiety. There is negative relationship between the healty humor types (self-enhancing humor and affiliative humor) and nine symptom of pschological subdivision such as (somatization, obsesive anomaly, sensitivity between people, depression, anxiety, hostility and anger, paranoid idea and pisikotizm). There is positive relationship between the nine symptom of pschological subdivision and unhealty humour types (self-defeating humor and aggressive humor). There is a negative relationship between the death anxiety and symptom of pschology. When we look at the relationship between symptom of pschology and death anxiety, it is found that there is negative relationship between obsesive anomaly, anxiety, phobic anxiety, paranoid idea and death anxiety. At the end of investigation the findings associate the guidance and pschological counselling and the result, interpretation, discussion also take part in the result of investigation.Keywords: Humor styles, psychological symptoms, death anxiety.
