Abstract (EN)

The main purpose of this survey is to detect the students ability of problem solving and its effects ontheir psychological symptoms. Whether the abilitiy of problem solving differs considerably based onsex and the level of age was also researched.This survey was realized in 2010-2011 education year in Sakaraya University by the attendance of itsstudents who studied in its different branches. This survey was implemented on 400 hundred studentsof which the 55 percent is female and 45 percent is male. By the aim of colllecting data, inventoryof problem solving, inventory of short symptom and personel information form was used. For theanalysis of the obtained datum, statistical program was used and by the help of this program frequencyand percent values of the variables of sample was reached. Whether demographical properties playan important role on the ability of problem solving and the level of pyschological symptoms wasmeasured by the help of variance analysis and t test.According to the results obtained from the findings of the survey, by the increase of level of problemsolving in the individuals, an increase in the symptoms of paranoid thinking was observed. by theincrease of the trust of the students in their ability of problem solving, there observed a decrease intheir pyschological symptoms. in comparising of the male and female students having pyschologicalsymptoms, there observed that male students level of having the symptoms of obsessive-compulsive,fobic anxiety, interpersonel sensitivity, psychotizm, hatred and animosity, convergence-abstinence andindividual control is bigger than the female students.Keywords: Mental health, problem solving, psychological symptoms
