Abstract (EN)

In this study, we investigated the relationship between social capital of university students and their library use habits. For this investigation, definition of the concept of social capital, levels, types and components of social capital and importance of these components were embraced at first stages of literature research. In second phase of literature research, definition, history, and types of the institution of library which is a key element of cultural life of a country were investigated. In the third phase, type of relationship between university students' library use habits' and their social capitals was examined and the findings that library usage habits increase the social capital of the students were tried to be revealed through a survey study. With this study, it has been concluded that the relation between social capital and library is about to strengthening individuals positions in society thought satisfying individuals' need of knowledge, sharing accurate and reliable information, contributing to the reduction of bureaucratic processes, socializing, creating collective memory and leading civil and self-imposed activities.
