The examination of the relationship between eating habits and mood disorders among school girls from universities

Abstract (EN)

This study aims to determine the relationship between eating attitudes and mood disorders of girls studying at the university. In this regard, total of 189 female students participated in the study who were randomly selected from the universities of Istanbul. Eating Attitudes Test (EAT), Mood Disorder Questionnaire (MDQ) and Socio-demographic questionnaire which is prepared by the researcher were used as data collection tools. The data was coded and analyzed with the help of SPSS Statistics 22.00. According to the overall results of the survey, it was found that mood has a positive significant effect on eating attitudes. On the other hand, age and body mass index has a positive significant effect on mood. According to results there is a relationship between parental status, relationship with mother, having meals with family, frequency of eating fast food or junk food, diet tendency and eating habits.
