Özet (EN)

The aim of this research is to examine the hopelessness, locus of control of high school students in the process of preparing for the university entrance examination, and the relationship between them in terms of different variables. For this purpose, the relationship between the hopelessness level and locus of control the high school students was examined. 271 high school students between the ages of 14-19, who are studying in Avcılar and Beylikduzu provinces, formed the sample of the research. This research benefits from two scales in the evaluation. The 'Rotter's Locus of Control Scale' was used to identify the locus of control and the 'Beck Hopelessness Scale' was used to determine the level of hopelessness. In addition, 'Demographic Information Form' was used to reach demographic information. According to the results of the research, statistically significant differences were found between the variables of gender, age, university preparation/non-preparation status and hopelessness. It has been understood that school type, socio-economic status and class level variables do not significantly change the locus of control and hopelessness. In addition, there was a positive relationship between hopelessness level and locus of control. The higher the level of hopelessness, the higher the external locus of control or the lower the level of hopelessness, the higher the internal locus of control is achieved.
