Abstract (EN)
Main objective of this study is to determine necessary regulations and improvements for transportation infrastructure of Ege University Campus by gathering information on characteristics and condition of transportation system which consist of roads, sidewalks, bicycle paths, accessible facilities, public transportation services and parking lots. Ege University GIS database which is designed within this study can be used as a decision support system in future projects, and also may provide a basis for an intelligent transportation system such as campus information system. Simulations with different transportation demands which are based on four different scenarios for different vehicle entrance policies for campus are conducted for existing road network. Comparing the scenario created using 2025 projection of car ownership rates for existing entrance policy, to the scenario reflecting present car ownership rates and entrance policy, it is seen that existing road network capacity is barely sufficient for 2025. Suggestions for "green campus" transportation are made according to simulation results. Transportation master plan that is acquired as a result of this study can also be used as a reference for future studies related to Ege University Campus transportation.
