This research aims to evaluate the poster designs of senior undergraduate students majoring in graphics design. 36 posters designed by 12 students has been evaluated by 30 professionals with regard to basic principals of design and design elements. A target audience of 30 people has also evaluated the poster with regard to their functionality, originality and their transmission of message. The data gathered by the evaluation of the posters have been analyzed according to research methods and they have been commented upon.When the findings produced by professionals is assessed; it has been seen that the group consisting of graphic designers and bachelor of design graduates find the poster designs more successful then the group consisting of teaching staff. The professional group in general has found the usage of the Dot element the least successful element within the principles of design and design elements.When the findings produced by the target audience is evaluated it is seen that the female audience find the typography and text-visual element compatibility more successful then the male audience. The target audience in general find the originality and the informativeness of the posters the least successful properties of all properties evaluated.Keywords: Poster design, graphics design, design elements, principles of design, target audience
