Geography of Ünye county town

Ünye, which is located in the Central Black Sea Zone of the Black Sea Region, is connected to the province of Ordu in administrative area and covers 487 km2. The Black Sea in the north, Terme district of Samsun Province on the west, Fatsa in the east and Akkuş and Kumru districts in the south are located. In terms of morphological features, the study site is located in a lower area than the surrounding settlements. The highest position of the district center of Ünye is Çakır hill with 85 m. When the geological features are examined, the location of the center of the district is established on a plain and close to a plain. As a result of the administrative change made in 2013, all the areas within the county boundary were considered as urban settlements. As a result, the rural population census was not needed after 2013. In terms of economic characteristics, agricultural activities are preliminary and beekeeping is the foreground in animal husbandry activities. Hazelnut fruit produced in the district of Ünye is a source of income both in terms of local people and our country. Ünye Cement, Ünye flour and hazelnut processing factories contribute to the local economy in Ünye district due to industrial activities. Ünye district center has a developed transportation network on the Black Sea coast road. It is anticipated that natural and cultural tourism activities in the province with a high potential for tourism supply and attractiveness can be developed with appropriate planning.
