Investigation of fresh fruit and vegetable whole salers market in Uşak within the application of legislative changes

Abstract (EN)

In this study, the opinions of the wholesalers operating in the fruit and vegetable wholesale market in Uşak province on demographic characteristics and the new fruit and vegetable wholesaler law (Law No. 5957) were examined. A total of 29 wholesalers operating in the fruit and vegetable wholesale market in Uşak were interviewed face to face. A questionnaire consisting of 33 questions was used to determine the opinions of the wholesalers about the demographic characteristics and the new fruit and vegetable wholesalers market law. Socio-demographic characteristics, marketing channels and physical structures of the stores were determined in the first 25 questions in the survey. In the other 8 questions, the information of the wholesalers about the fruit and vegetable market law was examined. It was determined that wholesale wholesalers operating in the fruit and vegetable market were generally in the middle age group, the majority of the wholesalers were high school graduates, the majority of them did not receive any training in marketing, and their professional experience generally ranged between 16-30 years. It is stated that the majority of the wholesalers are the second generation who are involved in this business and some wholesalers are involved in different occupational groups and are engaged in this business in order to provide additional income. In the research area, it was determined that all of the stores where the wholesalers operate were of the same dimensions and the various technical materials were inadequate, there were no cold stores and the majority of the wholesalers experienced product losses due to this reason. It was understood that the Uşak fruit and vegetable market wholesalers generally procured all of the products they market from outside the province. It was determined that the wholesalers sold the majority of the products they supplied to the local markets. The majority of wholesalers interested in the new fruit and vegetable wholesaler market law and scope stated that the new fruit and vegetable market law could not respond to the problems of the wholesaler and the wholesaler in particular inadequacy of the lack of infrastructure and the establishment of the necessary hygiene conditions.
