The effect of two different family planning methods used bymarried women on couple harmony in Uşak province

Objective: This research is based on two different family planning methods used by married women; This study was carried out to examine the effects of male condom and coitus interruptus methods on couple compatibility. Material and Method: The research, analytically-cross-sectionally, was carried out with 250 women who applied to all Family Health Centers affiliated to Uşak/Eşme District Health Directorate between April 2020 – April 2021. Two data collection forms, namely Personal Research Form and Dyadic Adjustment Scale, were used. In the analysis of the data, Kolmogorov-Smirnov, Levene, Mann Whitney, Kruskal Wallis, Dunn-Bonferroni Pearson's χ2, Continuity corrected χ2 or Fisher Freeman Halton tests were used in IBM SPSS Statistics 25.0 program. Results: The determinant factors in estimating the change in women's dyadic adjustment subscores were the occupation of the spouses, the duration of marriage and family type (Dyadic Satisfaction, p=0.002), Being self-employed, family type and being born in the district (Dyadic Cohension, p=0.002), spouses' occupation, family type, and duration of marriage (Dyadic Consensus, p=0.008), family type, duration of marriage, and spouse's occupation (Affectional Expression, p<0.001). The determining factors in estimating the change in dyadic adjustment total scores were found to be spouses' occupation, family type, and duration of marriage (p<0.001). Conclusion: In this study, while there was no significant effect of family planning methods on the Dyadic Adjustment Scale scores of women, the changes in socio-demographic and maternal factors on the scale scores were obtained.
