Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study; The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between decision making styles and visual reaction times of top level athletes and computer players. The mean age of the study was; 30 computer players with 20.36 ± 1.9 (years) and 30 senior athletes with a mean age of 21.23 ± 1.77 (years) participated in a total of 60 participants. Melbourne Decision Making Questionnaire I-II ( DMQ I-II) was used to determine participants' decision-making styles, and computer-aided MP36 Biopacsystem (USA) computer program was used to measure simple and selective audiovisual reaction times. SPSS 22.0 statistical program was used for the analysis of the obtained data. Shapiro Wilk Test was used to determine whether the data showed normal distribution. When examining the differences between the independent groups identified; Mann Whitney-U Test and pearson correlation analysis were used. According to the results obtained from the study, in the comparison between senior sportsmen and computer players; computer players according to senior athletes; There was a statistically significant difference in visual reaction time fix and random interval, auditory reaction time fix and random interval and auditory reaction time values (p <0.001), There was no statistically significant difference between the decision-making styles of the MCQ-I and MCQ-II sub-dimensions (p> 0.05). Computer players; there was a high correlation (r = p <0.01) between MCQ-I self-esteem sub-dimension and visual reaction time fix interval, moderate level between MCQ-II careful sub-dimension and visual reaction time random interval (r = p <0.05). A correlation was found between MCQ-II panic subscale and auditory reaction time and random interval reaction time (r = p <0.05). A high level correlation was found between MCQ-I self-esteem subscale and visual reaction time random interval of senior athletes (r = p <0.01). As a result, it was found that computer players had better visual and auditory reaction time values than senior athletes, and they were similar in terms of decision making styles between senior athletes and computer players.
