Özet (EN)

In many studies, factors such as reduction in hand grip strength, pain and pain were investigated. With this study, the effect of medical treatment attempts on the upper extremities of patients who are conscious and able to communicate verbally in the ICU of Istanbul Süreyyapaşa Chest Diseases and Thoracic Surgery Training and Research Hospital, on the grip strength of the patients were measured. Our study was conducted with 105 volunteer patients (33 females;72 males). Concrete values were recorded by measuring the grip strengths of the patients with Jamaar hand dynamometer. The data obtained in line with the parameters used in the study were compared among certain parameters such as age, height, gender, respiratory device use status, presence of muscle-bone diseases, home care status. Data analysis in the study was performed using the SPSS 25.0 (IBM SPSS Statistics 25) program. Descriptive statistics are expressed as ± standart deviation(SD)median (interquartile range = IQR = interquartile range) and percentage by data type. For comparisons between groups, Mann-Whitney U test and Kruskal Wallis tests were used according to the data test. SPSS 25.0 (IBM SPSS Statistics 25) program was used for statistical analysis. As a result of the tests performed, it was found that the hand grip strength of the patients decreased as the number of medical treatment attempts applied to the patients in the ICU increased.
