Abstract (EN)

Between 1987 and 2023, data from 210 patients who underwent surgery due to upper urinary tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC) without metastasis at the time of diagnosis and a history of muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC) were retrospectively analyzed. Factors influencing bladder recurrence and survival were investigated. The data were analyzed using SPSS 23.0 software. The median followup period was 24 (1-324) months, and the mean age at surgery was 62,5 ± 11 years. Of the patients, 91 (43.3%) were <62.5 years old, and 119 (56.7%) were >62.5 years old, with a female-to-male ratio of 44/166. Bladder tumor history, high tumor grade, and positive surgical margin (PSM) were found to be independent risk factors for cancer-specific survival (p=0.034, p=0.019, p<0.001; respectively). High T stage and grade, PSM were significant risk factors for cancer-specific survival. Advanced hydronephrosis, age, and surgical margin status were identified as factors affecting overall survival (respectively, p=0.048, p=0.003, p=0.003, p<0.001). Patients with tumor at the surgical margin, a history of MIBC, or high-grade tumor should be closely monitored for postoperative bladder recurrences. Keywords: Upper urinary tract, urothelial carcinoma, survival
