Abstract (EN)

Esophageal stenosis cases can be considered as chronic patients of pediatric surgery clinics, which can develop after various etiological reasons and require long-term treatment and follow-up periods. Patients operated on for esophageal atresia and cases that develop stricture after ingestion of corrosive substance are the most important causes of this pathology. There are many studies in national and international centers that discuss the experiences and newly tried approaches with these chronic patient groups. As an institution that has been providing treatment for these patients for 32 years, we have compiled our experiences with a retrospective evaluation. The preoperative pathologies of patients, concomitant medical conditions, postoperative follow-ups and the dilatation techniques were discussed and their long-term developments were evaluated. As a result of this study; Our clinical experience supports the positive results of long-term dilatation therapy to protect the patient's own esophagus as much as possible, rather than surgical methods that are thought to be definitive.
