Özet (EN)

Domestic and industrial wastes are among the most important global environmental problems. With the development of technology, population growth and industrialization, the amount of waste is also increasing in the world. Increasing the waste amount damages human health and adverse effects on the quality of the environment. Therefore, these wastes must be stored and monitored regularly. The surface temperature values are higher than the air temperature values in the waste disposal sites due to organic degradation and increasing amounts of stored waste over the years. For this reason, there will be negative effects on the temperature values and live life of the areas around waste disposal sites. These negative effects can also create the effect of urban heat island. The conventional methods used in the monitoring and analysis of waste disposal sites are both time-consuming and costly. However, using the geographical information systems and remote sensing techniques, which are one of the developing technologies of today, it is easy to monitor waste disposal sites. The use of remote sensing technology, the largest source of data for Geographical Information Systems, the processing of satellite images and the analysis of desired parameters are very important in the management of waste disposal sites. The aim of this thesis is Landsat satellite images of Izaydaş Solaklar Domestic Waste Disposal Site, which is determined as the study area, were provided and LST (Land Surface Temperature) and NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) analyzes were done. These analyzes were correlated with meteorological data. In this study, the LST value for the Izaydas is higher than the air temperature value across the year from 2014 to 2019. The difference in temperature value varies from 11°C and 1.36°C. Also, the land surface temperature value of the active area in the landfill is approximately 1 °C higher than closed area.
