Abstract (EN)
This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between sleep quality and caffeine use disorder with nighttime eating syndrome in working individuals aged 25-45. A total of 560 participants were included in the study, comprising 471 females (84.1%) and 89 males (15.9%). The participants' general characteristics, health status, dietary habits, anthropometric measurements, nighttime eating syndrome (Night Eating Questionnaire - NEQ), sleep quality (Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index - PSQI), and caffeine use disorder (Caffeine Use Disorder Scale) were assessed. The study found a weak positive correlation between participants' NEQ scores and waist circumference (p<0.05). Additionally, a statistically significant negative correlation was observed between caffeine use disorder scores and body weight and neck circumference (p<0.05). It was noted that as caffeine use disorder scores increased, body weight and neck circumference decreased. The value of caffeine use disorder was identified as an important parameter affecting nighttime eating syndrome (r=0.229) (p<0.05). It was determined that for every 1-unit increase in caffeine use disorder value, the risk of nighttime eating disorder increased by 7.8% (OR=1.081). An increase in PSQI value was also identified as an important parameter affecting nighttime eating syndrome (p<0.05). It was found that for every 1-unit increase in Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index value, the risk of nighttime eating syndrome increased by 25.4% (OR=1.254). In conclusion, it can be said that in the sample of this study, poor sleep quality in individuals with caffeine use disorder increased the risk of nighttime eating syndrome. Key Words: Night eating syndrome, Caffeine consumption, Sleep quality
