Uylupinar survey Iron Age ceramics

Uylupınar/Göl Adası settlement is located 18 km southeast of Gölhisar of Burdur province, northeast of Uylupınar Lake, and is called Şeher Taşı. The settlement is interacted with the surrounding regions in the examinations carried out on the samples found in the Uylupınar survey. In the researches carried out in Uylupınar and the surrounding settlements, there are examples made under the influence of Geometrical Style, Orientalizing Style, Wild Goat Style. Among these examples, Geometrical Period, Orientalizing Period, Archaic Period, Classical and Hellenistic Period ceramics chronologically from VIIIth?-VIIth BC and Ist century BC were evaluated. There are examples in the tradition of Geometrical and Orientalizing styles. The concentric circle-decorated samples made in the Geometric and Archaic Periods were examined separately in terms of form and body; on the other hand, body fragments were evaluated by grouping them in terms of pulp. Similarly, examples with line decoration, zigzag, triangle, meander decorations, braids, clothe, swastikas, fish scales, marble imitations. Plantal motifs are palmette, clover rosette. Examples with animal figures are goose, dog, deer, wild goat figures. In the samples examined, there are pieces that are thought to be Ionian production or imitation, Lydian production or imitation, Phrygian production or imitation, and black slipped Attic production or imitation and local production. The examples examined in this group are chronologically dated to VIIth-VIth BC century. The samples dated to the Classical Period are undecorated and black slipped. These ceramics are evaluated in the range of different vessel forms between the 5th and 4th centuries BC. When the Hellenistic Period ceramics are evaluated in terms of decoration, examples of mold-made bowls and open and closed vessels were examined. In the examinations made on these samples, they were groupped as plantal decorations, on the other hand, the samples determined as open and closed forms, the samples examined in terms of form were given to the range of IIIrd-Ist centuries BC.
